The GoW Trilogy Remake was a surprise announcement from the recent State of Play. While rumours had suggested a remake of the first game, getting all three original games from Sony Santa Monica is unexpected. But what does that mean about when we can expect it?
Here is what we know and our best guess on the game’s enhancements and release.
‘GoW Trilogy Remake’ release date prediction
The GoW Trilogy Remake is undoubtedly in the early stages of production, therefore we wouldn’t expect it until at least 2027 or 2028. This was emphasised heavily in the State of Play and it suggests that the remakes won’t arrive for a while.
While we don’t know, we imagine the first game was remade, and Sony Santa Monica opted to use the assets, art, and work that has been put into that game to remake the other two, as you could unify everything with a similar set of gameplay mechanics and systems, like the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy.
As such, we imagine all of the games will feel like each other, blending combat and creating a more unified gameplay experience while staying true to the unique moments, weapons, and bosses in each game. If we were to guess, we don’t imagine any major story, level, or structural changes to the games either.
But, we do reckon a lot of the accessibility features that have been added to the series in God of War and God of War Ragnarok will make there way over.
