Ariana Grande to “take a step back from visibility” amid “endless, ongoing public scrutiny”

Ariana Grande will “take a step back from visibility” after her ‘Eternal Sunshine’ tour, and has withdrawn from her planned West End debut.

The singer is wrapping up the North American leg of her headline tour and will begin a 10-date residency at London’s O2 Arena later this month, with those dates concluding on September 1.

After that, her representative has confirmed that she will take a break from public appearances. “Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the ‘Eternal Sunshine’ tour,” the rep told People.

“She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.”

“This tour has been a beautiful experience for her,” they added. “She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”

Ariana Grande will no longer appear in ‘Sunday in the Park with George,’ @People reports.

People has also quoted a source close to Grande, who emphasised that she was in good health. “She performs a very physical show, and there is a lot of athleticism involved,” they said. “She performs healthily and successfully at a very high level night after night.”

Grande will no longer be part of the upcoming West End revival of Sunday In The Park With George, which she had been due to star in alongside her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey. It would have been her West End debut at London’s Barbican Centre, starting next summer.

Last month, it was reported that she had also pulled out of the new season of American Horror Story due to touring commitments.

The decision comes after renewed public commentary surrounding Grande’s body and appearance, which intensified online after she recently released the video for ‘Petal’, the title track from her new album.

The singer has repeatedly asked people not to speculate about her health or appearance, and on her 2024 single ‘Yes, And?’, she sang: “Don’t comment on my body, do not reply / Your business is yours and mine is mine“.

Grande recently said she had written the ‘Petal’ album from a place of “unfiltered rage”, adding: “I usually am too shy to tap into that. This time, I didn’t filter as much as I usually do. I usually do a lot of rewrites and make things a little kinder. This time, I didn’t.”

She is still set to appear alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in the upcoming Meet The Parents sequel Focker-In-Law, which is due to be released in November.
