The Walt Disney Company and TikTok today announced a global deal that will allow social media content creators and fans to access and use memorable scenes from Disney movies and shows.

The new pact, which will pilot in the US in the coming months with other markets to follow, will bring a collection of curated Disney-centric fan-created content from TikTok to the Disney+ app. At launch, short-form videos from participating creators who opt-in to the program will live on both TikTok and Disney+ verticals. The shorts will feature characters and stories from Disney’s brands including Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, FX and more.

TikTok will offer their creators access to assets from Disney’s vast library. The TikTok videos will be refreshed regularly to engage Disney+ subscribers, so as to stimulate fan conversations, communities, and engagement.

The TikTok deal with the Mouse House comes on the morning of Disney’s Q3 earnings call, and in the wake of news last night that the media conglomerate was moving its Disney Consumer Products unit from the Experiences division to Disney Entertainment which is under the Studios umbrella.

“The best storytellers are fans first,” said Asad Ayaz, Walt Disney Company Chief Marketing and Brand Officer in a statement. “That has always been true at Disney, and today, fans are celebrating our stories in entirely new ways. This collaboration creates a new bridge between the stories we tell and the creativity they inspire, giving creators a bigger stage to share what they’ve made, and audiences more to discover on Disney+ every day.”

“Creators are at the heart of everything we do at TikTok. Their creativity extends the life of films and shows into conversations that fans discover and share,” said Dawn Yang, TikTok’s Global Head of Entertainment. “Together with Disney, we’re bringing the authentic creator expression of the TikTok community to Disney+, inviting audiences to experience the shared creativity that makes fandom so powerful.”

Through the jointly-run Disney Creator Ambassador Program, Disney and TikTok will enable top-notch creators to unlock special rewards and provide them with increased profiles, access to exclusive events and career development pathways. It’s a means for Disney to build relationships with the next generation of creative talent.

According to internal TikTok data, fans shared an average of 6.5 million film and TV-related posts on the social media portal daily last year. Additionally, nearly half of surveyed viewers said they went on to watch a movie or TV show on a streaming service or television after discovering entertainment content on TikTok.

In December 2025, Disney planned a $1 billion investment in OpenAI and a three-year licensing deal to let fans generate short videos using over 200 Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars characters on Sora. The big-bucks investment looked to reset the IP battle between artificial intelligence and Hollywood by permitting iconic characters from Frozen, Star Wars and the Marvel multiverse to be used on the generative AI video app, Sora. However, in March, OpenAI pulled the plug on Sora.
