Weezer have shared the latest single from The Gold Album. In the video for “C.E.O.”, a pair of record executives played by Rob Riggle and Rob Huebel hound Rivers Cuomo into reenacting the iconic clip for “Undone (The Sweater Song)” from 1994’s Blue Album. “People are hungry for nostalgia,” Huebel insists, brandishing a “CEO” mug. “They want to see the old with a new twist.”
The video then cuts to the band halfheartedly performing “C.E.O.” on a soundstage—it’s gold this time—with Obsession’s Curry Barker in the director’s chair. (Brendan Walter and Jasper Graham helmed the actual clip.) “Crankin’ out another ’90s jam,” goes the song’s opening line, “wish I could do something new.”
Bored with Weezer’s performance, Barker orders to have a swarm of live bees released in the studio—a callback to the dogs in the original “Undone” video. The band walks off set, but no problem; the execs make some calls, and voila! A replacement Weezer consisting of Tony Hawk, Chrisopher Mintz-Plasse, Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi, Dax Flame, and Jay Renshaw in character as Chit in character as Cuomo. Weezer’s proper follow-up to 2021’s OK Human and Van Weezer, The Gold Album is out August 21. Weezer have already shared two other songs from the album: “We Might as Well Be Strangers,” a duet with Wendesday’s Karly Hartzman, and “Shine Again.” As of today, they’ve also expanded their upcoming Weezer: The Gathering tour with 2027 dates across the UK, Europe, and Japan.
