[NEW YORK] Wall Street’s main indexes opened higher on Friday (Aug 21) after getting hammered in the previous session, though markets remained on track to end the week in the red as surging government bond yields and geopolitical tensions weighed on risk appetite.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 9.7 points, or 0.02 per cent, at the open to 52,768.87.

The S&P 500 rose 24.5 points, or 0.32 per cent, at the open to 7,665.68, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 131.7 points, or 0.51 per cent, to 26,198.835 at the opening bell. REUTERS
