T-Pain’s got money in the bank—and it’s all for his family’s future.

Over a year after the “Buy U a Drank” artist sold his entire music catalog for a whopping $100 million, the dad of three said his daughter Lyriq, and sons Muziq and Kaydnz with wife Amber Najm were top of mind when making the decision. Specifically, in wanting to secure their future in what can be a tumultuous and mutable industry.

“Let me tell you something,” the 41-year-old said during a Twitch livestream, per People. “When streaming started, nobody told us, or nobody came to any artist and said, ‘Hey, we’re about to put your s–t on streaming platforms. How much do you want your music to cost?’ Suddenly, out of nowhere and without anybody’s consent, all of our music went from a dollar a song to 0.003 cents per play. Nobody asked us s–t.”

He noted that that value gets “lower and lower” over time, making his catalog worth “less and less and less and less.”

For T-Pain (real name Faheem Rashad Najm), the math wasn’t quite mathing.
