U.S. President Donald Trump, Harvey Weinstein, Sam Altman and more were mocked in the latest “Saturday Night Live U.K.” Weekend Update segment.
“This week, President Trump welcomed President Xi to the White House,” co-anchor Ania Magliano said. “As a sign of respect, Trump wore a bright red tie as a sign of Communist China. And Xi wore a mottled purple tie, the color of Trump’s prostate.”
Joking about Trump’s Chinese banquet for President Xi, Magliano quipped: “Trump ordered a 20, an 18 and a 21. And afterwards sat down for a Chinese-inspired banquet.”
“From Beijing to beige man, Trump met [U.K. Prime Minister] Andy Burnham” Young continued. “It wasn’t a memorable event for Trump, as he’s got dementia.”
Altman, the co-founder of OpenAI, and his appearance at the UN was also teased. “Altman, whose company launched ChatGPT, warned his creation could destroy humanity. And then he slapped his own wrists and ran out of the room saying, ‘Someone stop me!’” Magliano said.
“SNL U.K.” also took aim at Harvey Weinstein, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison in New York earlier this week.
“Me Too is now what the inmates say in the queue for Weinstein’s arsehole,” Magliano joked as the audience let out a collective “oooh.”
“Back in 2016, Weinstein hired a private intelligence firm to dig up dirt on his victims,” Young continued. “So on one side, we have a prolific rapist with paid spies. On the other, we have abuse victims who have been silenced. A conflict described by Ed Sheeran as ‘nuanced.’”
Elsewhere, Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent speech at the UN — where representatives for other nations walked out — was also mentioned. “Of course, it is easy to paint Netanyahu as the bad guy in this situation,” Young said before swiftly moving on to the next item.
