The SANCAR Armed Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (AUSV), a collaborative project between HALVESAN and Yonca Shipyard, has successfully concluded live-fire trials in the Marmara Sea, Turkey.

Conducted on 9 September 2025, the trials demonstrated AUSV’s capability to engage targets with its 12.7mm stabilised weapon system.

SANCAR operates with ADVENT ROTA, a system derived from Havelsan’s ADVENT Combat Management System and tailored for uncrewed platforms.

With these trials, the vehicle is claimed to be the first AUSV to be fully integrated with ADVENT, capable of performing tasks such as engagement, mine detection, and autonomous mission execution.

SANCAR is designed to meet modern maritime security challenges by offering a multi-mission capability.

These include base and port protection, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, mine countermeasures, and search-and-rescue operations.

The vehicle is equipped with advanced sensors such as navigation radar, automatic identification system, electrooptical cameras, sonar, and 360-degree surveillance systems to provide real-time situational awareness.

During the trials, capabilities such as task handover, swarm operations, and coordinated strikes were demonstrated.

SANCAR’s open architecture is said to allow for quick mission adaptation.

Its current and future payloads include a 12.7mm remote-controlled weapon system, guided missile payloads for deterrence, and sonar and mine countermeasure systems for subsurface threat detection.

AUSV’s communication system includes radiofrequency line of sight, satellite communications, and long-term evolution for uninterrupted operations.

Its global navigation satellite system-based navigation system and Ship Data Distribution System ensure connectivity across all onboard systems.

Last month, Havelsan integrated advanced AI capabilities into its Network-Enabled Data Integrated Combat Management System (ADVENT).
