This second-gen AirTag fixes some small annoyances we had with the 1st-gen and makes keeping track of your things a lot easier.
First of all, the speaker is louder in these new trackers, making it easier to hear the ringing when you’re trying to locate your misplaced keys, for instance. Pair that with upgraded Ultra Wideband and Bluetooth chips, and you can ping your stuff noticeably farther away than before.
The Precision Finding feature is also better, so you can get step-by-step directions to find the items on your iPhone and your Apple Watch. Battery life is not something that you’ll have to worry about either, because the battery will last more than a year. Also, when the power drains, you can just swap it out with a standard CR2032 3V lithium coin battery.
We do have to admit that at $89, the new AirTags are still one of the most expensive trackers. It’s also quite annoying that Apple has kept the same design, and you need to buy extra accessories to be able to hook them to your keyring. Still, at $89 for four, there’s no beating Apple’s AirTags if you want Bluetooth trackers so you always know where your keys and luggage are.
