Kit Connor in Talks for Cyclops in Marvel’s ‘X-Men’ Reboot

Kit Connor looks to be the next actor to join the sprawling Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The rising star, best known for the TV series “Heartstopper,” is being eyed to play Cyclops in Disney and Marvel’s upcoming “X-Men” reboot. Cyclops, whose government name is Scott Summers, hones his powers through powerful beams of energy from his eyes. Should his deal close, Connor will appear alongside Samara Weaving, who was recently announced as the villain-turned-hero Emma Frost. Jake Schreier, who helmed last year’s “Thunderbolts,” will direct the superhero adventure. Sadie Sink, who debuted as the iconic X-Men character Jean Grey in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” is also expected to star.

This is the first standalone “X-Men” movie since 21st Century Fox was acquired by Disney in 2019. Disney, which owns Marvel Studios, has started to mine the mutant comic book characters for the big screen 2024’s billion-dollar hit “Deadpool & Wolverine” and 2025’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.”

Many mutants from prior 20th Century films will appear in this December’s “Avengers: Doomsday” with the likes of Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden reprising their roles as Magneto, Professor X, Mystique and Cyclops. They’re teaming up with the Avengers and heroes from different universes to defeat the all-powerful Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.).

After “Doomsday,” Marvel is expected to reboot the mutant team with a younger cast. Sadie Sink has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jean Grey, who has been brought to the screen in the past by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner. Sink, best known for “Stranger Things,” made her debut as the powerful telepath in this summer’s blockbuster sensation “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” Marvel has yet to share where or when Sink’s character will pop up next.
