Judge Judy Was Against Son Adam Levy Having His Own Show at First

Judge Judy had objections to her family following her footsteps into television.

Before creating Adam’s Law, a new daytime court show starring her son Adam Levy, the 83-year-old (real name Judy Sheindlin) wasn’t on board with the idea of passing down the gavel after three decades of presiding cases on the small screen.

“I wouldn’t have encouraged him to take on this role and responsibility 10 years ago, or even five years ago,” Judy shared in an Aug. 6 trailer for Levy’s courtroom series, premiering Sept. 14 on CBS, “because I wasn’t ready to give it up.”

“Quite frankly, I think he has the talent to beat me,” the longtime TV arbitrator continued with a laugh, “and I don’t like the idea of that.”

But seeing how Adam, who she shares with ex Ronald Levy, “understands the law” by having previously served as a district attorney, Judy believes he’s “got great TV eyes” to take on the mantel.
