Marine and defence solutions provider James Fisher Defence (JFD Global) has formalised a strategic cooperation agreement with Sweden’s Saab to improve naval capabilities.
The partnership aims to leverage the combined skills and knowledge of both entities to provide enhanced support to clients in Sweden and worldwide.

The collaboration will focus on Swedish underwater initiatives, including submarine rescue operations.
Additionally, the alliance will explore joint efforts in technology advancement within the realm of underwater military engagement.
JFD Global’s offerings include pressure vessels, specialised diving equipment such as the newly introduced Stealth Multi-Role rebreather, tactical diving crafts, along with submarine platforms and rescue systems.
JFD Sweden and the Nordics general manager Thomas Ljungqvist said: “This agreement with Saab strengthens our ability to support Sweden’s naval and diving community with the most advanced, reliable and responsive solutions available.
“By combining our in-country presence with the expertise from Saab, we can work even more closely with customers to meet their operational needs, address ongoing challenges and ensure that they have the safety, service and support they require – now and in the future.”
Since 2010, JFD Global has been active in Sweden in collaboration with Saab, notably supporting the Royal Swedish Navy with their 55-tonne URF submarine rescue vehicle.
Additionally, they manage and maintain an ANSTI breathing apparatus performance measurement system at the Royal Swedish Navy’s diving school.
