[TOKYO] Japan’s factory output fell 1.2 per cent in August from the previous month, exceeding a median market forecast for a 0.8 per cent decline, government data showed on Tuesday.
Manufacturers surveyed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry expect seasonally adjusted output to grow 4.1 per cent in September and rise 1.2 per cent in October.
Separate data showed Japanese retail sales in August unexpectedly declined 1.1 per cent from a year earlier, against the median market forecast for a 1.0 per cent rise. REUTERS
