Japanese Indie Dev Is Adding Czech Language Support For One Person

Eba Games, a one-man indie developer from Japan, is set to release its latest game, Ball Boy Simulator, on Steam within the month, and it’s the first title that the developer has released with language support for regions outside of Japan.

While adding language support for games is never a simple task, especially for a single developer, Eba Games has decided to extend its list of supported languages at the last minute. Why? Because they spotted that one person in the Czech Republic has wishlisted the game.

As spotted by Game Spark, Eba Games took to X on August 1 to announce that Ball Boy Simulator will be adding Czech support to its list of supported languages as a way to repay the “deep respect the Czechs have shown for both baseball and Japan.”

“One day, I was looking at my wishlists, and I saw that just one person from the Czech Republic had signed up,” Eba stated in a post on X (machine translated from Japanese).

“I’m well aware of the deep respect the Czechs have shown for both baseball and Japan in recent international tournaments,” Eba continued. “That’s why—for the sake of that single baseball fan in the Czech Republic—I’m adding Czech language support. Wait for me, my Czech friend.”

As adorable as this is, I decided to have a look at what kind of game Ball Boy Simulator is and, uh… let’s just say, based on the title, I certainly wasn’t expecting it to be a psychological horror game about the “harsh hierarchy and oppressive atmosphere of Japanese high school baseball clubs.”

That being said, it looks interesting and weird enough to earn it a spot on my Steam wishlist, and if not for Eba Games’ kindness towards their only fan in the Czech Republic, I can honestly say I almost definitely would have never heard of this game. Just goes to show that maybe the best kind of PR is being a nice person.
