Jack White‘s Third Man Records has announced a run of pop-up stores across the UK and Ireland – see the details below.

The label will take over five independent record shops between August 28 and September 20, with stops in Bristol, Newcastle, Belfast, Dublin and Glasgow.

Each pop-up will stock exclusive vinyl, limited edition merchandise, posters and books, as well as a series of homemade “bootleg” editions of White’s records. Each copy will come in a hand-screen-printed sleeve, with all items available on a first come, first served basis while stocks last.

Third Man have said the “bootlegs” come from the mysterious Frozen Charlatan character from the cover of White’s new album ‘Frozen Charlotte‘, with the figure said to have stolen a cache of the musician’s records in order to distribute them at the pop-up events.

    The stores in question are:

    AUGUST

    28 – Bristol, Friendly Records
    29 – Newcastle, Beatdown Records
    31 – Belfast, Hectic Records

    SEPTEMBER

    1-2 – Dublin, Tower Records
    18-20 – Glasgow, Monorail Music

Other than Glasgow, each pop-up coincides with a date of White’s upcoming UK and Ireland tour in support of ‘Frozen Charlotte’. The run kicks off with two nights at London’s Eventim Apollo on August 25 and 26, followed by shows in Bristol, Newcastle and Belfast and two nights at Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre. He will then head to North America for shows in September, October and November. See the full list here and find any remaining tickets here.

White founded Third Man Records in Detroit in 2001, and it now also has locations in Nashville and London. They have also hosted pop-up events in the past in Paris, Liverpool and Brighton, and at festivals all over the world.

‘Frozen Charlotte’ is his seventh solo record and in a three-and-a-half-star review, NME wrote that it “may not rank among his classic work but it’s good fun”, adding: “It’s gonna really be something live, and it works to show that White doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel when he can give you one hell of a ride on his own.”

Elsewhere, White recently brought out The Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson in Chicago for a cover of Free’s 1969 track ‘I’m A Mover’, and was joined by his daughter Scarlett in Brooklyn for three White Stripes songs.
