Tate McRae has responded to accusations of being MAGA after her Morgan Wallen duet and alleged relationship with Jack Hughes.

The ‘Sports Car’ singer has addressed her rumoured MAGA affiliations in an interview with Variety. McRae has collaborated with Morgan Wallen on the song ‘What I Want’; Wallen stirred controversy over his use of a racial slur in 2021.

Additionally, McRae is reportedly dating Jack Hughes, who plays for NHL team The Devils and for the USA team when they won the Winter Olympics this year. He and the team caught flack when they met President Donald Trump after snagging the gold medal, laughing at President Donald Trump joking he would be impeached if he didn’t invite the women’s team to the White House.

Now, McRae has addressed claims of being a MAGA supporter, telling the outlet: “I like to say my piece through organizations I support and the environment that I have on tour,” she says. McRae has previously supported The Trevor Project, a LGBTQ+ suicide prevention nonprofit, while a portion of her merchandise proceeds has gone to the Global Fund for Women.

“I think it’s pretty obvious what kind of person I am and the things I support,” she continued to say. “And I hope that my fans can see that through the things that I’m putting my energy towards.”

McRae’s latest album is 2025’s ‘So Close To What’, which spawned hit singles like ‘Sports Car’ and ‘Revolving Door’.

We gave the record a four-star review, writing: “The result is a rock-solid collection of bops that gives McRae space to grow in the future. She’s great at sultry and self-confident moments, but ‘So Close To What’ proves she has other shades in her colour palette.”

McRae was nominated for her first Grammy this year for Best Dance Pop Recording. Meanwhile, she headlined Lollapalooza this year alongside titans like Olivia Dean, Charli xcx, Lorde and The xx.

Elsewhere, Zara Larsson has hit out at people pitting her against Tate McRae.
