GTA 6 Had A Really Busy Week

After many, many years of waiting, we have entered the endgame of Grand Theft Auto 6‘s hype cycle. Next month, in November, Rockstar Games will finally release its long-awaited open-world sequel, GTA 6. And for 90 percent of that wait, it has felt like fans have had to survive off scraps. A single trailer. A small teaser. A new screenshot. The announcement of a delay. But now, the GTA 6 marketing machine is finally revving up. That’s probably why this past week was one of the busiest for GTA 6 fans waiting to play in November.

On Friday, Love Magazine released a few new looks at GTA 6 and shared some new quotes from devs working on the game ahead of the magazine’s next issue. That issue will feature GTA 6 protagonists Jason and Lucia on the cover. Before then, Love shared some tidbits from two different GTA 6 writers:

“We wanted both protagonists to be vulnerable, tough, flawed, right sometimes, wrong sometimes, able to learn from each other,” says game writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern.

“When you are focusing on writing a fully realised person with their own wants, you’re going to get something perfectly imperfect—with clichés, but also undeniably real,” says Alexa D’Agostino.

A Mural Is Being Painted In New York City

Meanwhile, in New York City, Grand Theft Auto fans have spotted painters putting up a new mural that will feature Jason and Lucia hanging out on a wall somewhere in Brooklyn. It looks like it’ll be finished soon.

I Got Some GTA 6 Merch

Some news directly from…me! Earlier today, I received a package in the mail from Rockstar Games containing some new Grand Theft Auto 6 goodies and merch. My favorite bit of gear they sent over was easily the pink canvas bag. It feels very nice. I’ll also never say no to stickers.

This appears to be the same box of goodies sent to some GTA content creators. Rockstar tells me they shipped it my way as a thank you for my years of GTA coverage at Kotaku. I guess I’ve been writing about GTA at this site for a decade now…huh.

Vice City Takes Over The Miami Heat

As we covered earlier today, Rockstar is teaming up with the Miami Heat to host a big takeover night on November 18, right before GTA 6‘s big launch. The stadium will feature a new GTA 6-inspired court, and Heat players will wear new Vice City uniforms. The Heat are selling a ton of new GTA 6 merch and shirts, too, including a shirt that seems inspired by a silly Easter egg found in the OG Vice City.

Big Grand Theft Auto 6 Cover Story In Game Informer

We’ve partnered with @gameinformer to make today’s Grand Theft Auto VI cover story free in the Game Informer app.

And let’s not forget that earlier this week, GTA 6 got a big cover story in Game Informer magazine. This story provided us with even more new screenshots of the game, as well as spilling some new details about just how big the world will be. You can expect over 150+ animal species across GTA 6′s map, as well as hurricanes and tropical storms. We also learned that there will be legendary creatures to find out there. Perhaps a stink ape is lurking in the swamps of Leonida? Oh, but don’t expect to visit Disney World in GTA 6.

So yeah, it was a busy week for Grand Theft Auto 6! And I suspect, as we get closer and closer to launch next month, we’ll see even more marketing pushes by Take-Two and Rockstar Games as they prepare to release what will likely be the biggest video game in a decade. No pressure.
