“Five Nights at Freddy’s” and New Jersey entertainment and retail center American Dream will open a real-life Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza location in East Rutherford, N.J., in 2027.
Based on the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” franchise, the immersive restaurant experience is a functional reimagining of the game’s location, designed in collaboration with IP holder ScottGames.
The pizzeria will be a quick-service dining experience featuring two animatronic stage shows: the Main Stage with Freddy and the Fazbear Band, and the Pirate Cove with Foxy the Pirate. Fans can eat, play arcade games, watch an animatronic show and participate in survival horror multiplayer game experiences.
“The only way this experience succeeds is if it’s created by a team that knows ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ inside and out,” said Atreyu Alcantar, creative manager, licensing & location-based entertainment at American Dream and creative lead for the attraction. “The animatronic show has to be authentic. The food has to be high quality. And above all else, we’re not building a set that looks like Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza – we’re building Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. This experience will immerse longtime fans in the world they’ve imagined for years while welcoming an entirely new audience to discover it for the first time.”
“Five Nights at Freddy’s” originated as a video game series and has since expanded into novels, graphic novels and films. Created by Scott Cawthon, the game’s story arcs typically follow a character attempting to survive attacks from homicidal animatronic characters. The locations are connected to the fictional pizza restaurant franchise Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.
American Dream’s other attractions include DreamWorks Water Park, Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park, Sesame Street Learn & Play, Legoland Discovery Center and Sea Life Aquarium.
