First Touchscreen Mac Will Be Next Year’s OLED MacBook Pro — Analyst

Apple’s first touchscreen Mac will be the rumored OLED MacBook Pro.  That’s according to a new report by the supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Writing on the X social network, Kuo said that the new OLED MacBook Pro will likely go into production in late 2026 and feature a touchscreen panel for the first time. This will not be the next refresh for the MacBook Pro, however, with a new M5-powered version expected to be released in the early part of 2026.

This would mean that the OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro will feature an M6 chip, likely with upgraded performance and core counts. Next year’s M5 refresh isn’t expected to bring a big refresh to the lineup, suggesting again that bigger things are to come in the next iteration.

Apple has so far refused to add touch capability to any of its Macs, and it’s something that cofounder Steve Jobs famously rallied against. However, other manufacturers have been releasing touchscreen laptops of their own for years.

The move to a touchscreen Mac could further close the gap between the Mac and iPad lineups. The recent iPadOS 26 software update bring with it new Mac-like window management and multitasking features, for example. By bringing touch to the Mac, Apple will further blur the lines between the two.
