Spider-Man: Brand New Day is no longer among the top 10 highest-rated MCU films on Rotten Tomatoes.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is having a heck of a first week. The film has already broken multiple records, including having the biggest domestic opening weekend at the box office in history. The film dethroned Avengers: Endgame and has already racked up $1 billion at the box office, with an expectation that it will cross the $2 billion mark with ease. Its second weekend will be supported with a new IMAX release in North America, which will undoubtedly push people to rewatch the movie or give them another reason to see it for the first time.

However, amidst all of the records and success, the film has had a very small setback in one other area: Rotten Tomatoes. Of course, Rotten Tomatoes is hardly the be-all, end-all of a film, and some people don’t care about the aggregate at all, but there’s no denying that it’s something the larger industry puts stock in when measuring a movie’s critical success. As spotted by Forbes, Spider-Man: Brand New Day was in the top 10 highest-rated MCU flicks on Rotten Tomatoes up until this week, when its overall rating dropped to 89%.

Now, Brand New Day is tied with Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War as the 11th highest-rated MCU film. Spider-Man’s other MCU outings all place above it, with Homecoming in 6th place, Far From Home in 8th, and No Way Home in 5th place. This is bound to spark all kinds of discourse, as some feel Brand New Day is not only the best MCU Spidey movie but also one of the best iterations of the wall-crawler to ever hit the silver screen. Other fans have felt like Brand New Day loses some points for its villain, which isn’t a traditional Spider-Man villain. So, maybe they’ll agree with its placement.
