Spider-Man: Brand New Day has leaked on X, becoming the latest blockbuster to do so.

It comes after Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey (which also stars Tom Holland) recently found itself on the social media platform, rapidly attaining over 2million views before being taken down.

According to Variety, Brand New Day’s leak reached 5.9million accounts, with over 143,000 likes and 10,000 reshares before it was taken down over nine hours later.

Studio Sony is yet to comment on the leak.

Following The Odyssey’s leak, Universal said: “We became aware of the unauthorised posting of the film and immediately initiated takedown protocols. We take copyright infringement seriously and will pursue all appropriate remedies to protect our content and intellectual property rights.”

Brand New Day sees Holland return as the titular Marvel superhero after being forgotten in previous film No Way Home, as he faces a dangerous new threat.

Zendaya returns as MJ alongside Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, while Jon Bernthal reprises his Marvel role of Frank Castle/Punisher, as does Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova/Black Widow and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk.

The film has already become a huge box office hit, taking in $927million (£688million) worldwide in its debut weekend, making it the second highest film opening ever behind Avengers: Endgame.

Ahead of its release, Steve Lacy – who has a song featured in the film – gave away a major spoiler on the red carpet premiere.

In NME’s four-star review of Brand New Day, we said: “Maturity, action and great storytelling combine to make a film that’s easily the best Tom Holland Spider-Man outing – and the best MCU movie of the decade. Where Peter fits in with the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday is unclear, but the young webslinger has grown up and become the type of hero this franchise sorely needs.”
