Bella Thorne is shaking up the Spring Breakers sequel.

The Disney Channel alum is officially set to write, direct and star in the upcoming Spring Breakers 2, which she has already finished the screenplay for.

“The original Spring Breakers was an iconic cultural touchstone, and taking the reins as a filmmaker is a dream project for me,” Thorne said in an Aug. 10 statement. “I’m so grateful to Chris [Hanley] and Roberta Hanley for trusting me with their world.”

“I’ve always been drawn to stories that explore the unapologetic, unfiltered side of youth culture,” she added, “and I can’t wait to deliver a wild, high-stakes thrill ride that honors the first film while forging its own distinct path.”

The 28-year-old’s sequel to the original 2013 film—which starred Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Vanessa Hudgens and Rachel Korine—will follow “five girls entering the wildest party of their lives on spring break, only to realize they were never guests—just targets,” per a press release announcing the film,” also noting that it will be “capturing the spirit of the original, while pushing into new territory.”
