The number of 3-in-1 travel chargers for iPhone, Watch and AirPods is growing at the same rate that their size is shrinking. Some of our favorites include the Twelve South Butterfly SE, Anker MagGo Folding, Kuxiu X40, and Satechi OnTheGo.

How compact is the Mophie Roam?
To be a bona fide “travel charger” the product must fold up to fit in a pocket and unfold to present three accessible wireless charging pads.
Like all the above travel chargers, the Mophie Roam does exactly that.

It’s a bi-fold, meaning it consists of two hinged sections. Two becomes three because the iPhone Qi2.2 charging pad raises into a stand (allowing for Apple’s StandBy mode), exposing the AirPods Qi pad. The Watch charging module is on the other side of the fold, with it also rising into a stand so the Watch can be seen in Nightstand mode.
Folded it measures 3 x 2.8 x 1.3 inches (76 x 71 x 33mm); unfolded it’s 6.4 inches (162mm) wide. It weighs 233g.

How does it compare with rival travel chargers?
There are smaller and lighter travel chargers available, but choosing between them will most likely come down to aesthetic preferences rather than cold dimensional comparisons. Even so, here are the facts:

Check out the individual reviews for more detail and pictures. The smallest and cheapest 3-in-1 is the Kuxiu X40, which can be raised to the tallest height. The Butterfly SE is dinkier but can simultaneously charge only two devices. The lightest is the Anker MagGo Foldable.
With its StealthCharge technology, the Roam is fastest—although not by a huge margin on the Kuxiu X40 or Belkin UltraCharge Pro.
The Roam comes with the nicest extras but is also markedly the priciest.

How fast does it charge?
- iPhone: 25W (Qi2.2)
- Apple Watch: 5W
- AirPods: 5W
These are the wireless fast-charging speeds for each device. Some Watch chargers reach 7.5W, but Apple classes 5W as fast-charging for the Watch. In our tests our Watch (Series 8) charged to 50% in 25 minutes.
Only the Kuxiu X40 and its cheaper but slightly larger X55 sibling match the Mophie Roam at 25W for iPhone wireless charging, with the others on the older 15W Qi2 standard.
Note that only iPhones 16 and later support wireless 25W charging; iPhones 12-15 can still be charged using Qi2.2 chargers such as the Roam but at 15W.
Where Mophie differs is its clever StealthCharge technology that moves the main components that generate heat away from the charging pad itself to keep it as cool as possible during charging as 25W can get hot enough to force the iPhone into throttling power to protect its battery from the heat.
If kept cool, a phone should charge uninterrupted at full speed. Some chargers include fans to keep the pad and phone cool, but StealthCharge removes the need for them and so goes about its business silently. Vents at the back no doubt help too.

What’s included in the box?
The Mophie Roam ships with five interchangeable adapters—for North America, Europe, U.K., Australia and New Zealand, and Korea—in its rather lovely travel pouch with organizer pockets for everything including its 5ft (1.5m) USB-C cable, 40W charger and international plugs.
The pouch measures 10.9 x 3 inches (277 x 76mm).
There’s even a little weighted cable accessory to keep it all neat and tidy, which in black is the only thing in the Sail Cream-colored model that’s not matching.
Sail Cream is a lux off-white. Roam is also available in Black.

It ships with the nicest travel case and color-matched extras such as the 40W charger with international plug adapters.
Should you buy the Mophie Roam Travel Charger?
The whole package—pocketable 3-in-1 folding travel charger, travel case, charger, plug adapters, and cable—is beautifully put together, and more importantly the tech is not only the fastest possible but includes clever features that ensure that fast wireless charging speed is maintained from start to finish.
