Norton adds new cyber defence tools for small business accounts

Norton Small Business has introduced new features designed to help businesses defend against digital risks such as scams, account takeovers, and data breaches.

    New monitoring tools

Norton announced it is expanding its Norton Small Business offering with the introduction of Dark Web Monitoring and Social Media Monitoring features.

These tools aim to provide business owners with proactive monitoring and timely alerts concerning compromised business data and threats emerging on social media platforms, in an effort to increase resilience against a rising tide of cyber threats.

According to the Gen Q2 Threat report, data breaches affecting businesses have increased by 20% in the past quarter, and breach attacks targeting small businesses have risen by more than 50% in 2025. Cyber attackers are increasingly buying stolen information on the Dark Web and impersonating vendors or other businesses, which is causing major financial and reputational difficulties for small businesses that often lack sufficient protection.

    Addressing new and growing threats

Deval Patel, Head of Small Business at Gen, explained the importance of the newly added features:

“Today, small businesses are targets like everyone else and they need the right tools to help protect them from very real threats. A cyber incident can cripple a small business by tarnishing its reputation and draining financial reserves. Thousands of small businesses trust the comprehensiveness of Norton Small Business to help safeguard their data and customers. By adding enhanced Dark Web and Social Media Monitoring alongside our Financial Monitoring feature, we’re extending that peace of mind into areas where cyber threats are growing fastest.”

Norton’s enhanced Dark Web Monitoring aims to provide constant vigilance, warning business owners as soon as their information appears to be at risk. The monitoring service now covers eight additional business-specific fields, such as Company Name, Tax ID number, and VAT numbers. Should any of these details be detected on the Dark Web, business owners receive alerts so they can take prompt action to address the risk.

The Social Media Monitoring feature is intended to protect businesses on platforms crucial to their public profile and communication strategies, specifically Facebook and Instagram. The feature provides early warnings of account takeover attempts, scam links, and suspicious activity on connected business profiles. According to the latest Gen threat report, there has been a marked increase in financial scams, including malicious advertisements and tech support scams, originating from Facebook and Instagram. Norton’s new monitoring feature is expected to help businesses counter these fast-evolving threats.

    Availability across markets

Dark Web Monitoring will be accessible to Norton Small Business Standard and Premium users in the United States, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific – including New Zealand – and Japan. Social Media Monitoring is included in the Premium plan for users in the United States and United Kingdom.

Norton describes these features as part of ongoing efforts to assist small businesses in protecting themselves and their clients from a rapidly shifting threat landscape, focusing on data security and business continuity amid increasing cyber risks worldwide.
