One of the easiest ways to future-proof your Nintendo Switch 2 is by upgrading its storage. While the console ships with 256GB built in, that capacity disappears much faster than many players expect, especially if you’re downloading larger AAA games instead of sticking to physical cartridges.
Fortunately, Walmart has dropped the price of the SanDisk GamePlay microSD Express Card to just $98 for the 512GB model. Considering these cards regularly sell for around $150, it’s one of the strongest Switch 2 accessory deals available right now, and a worthwhile pickup before storage prices inevitably fluctuate again.

The extra capacity makes a noticeable difference. With 512GB installed, you’ll have room for a much larger library without constantly deleting games every time a new release arrives. That’s becoming increasingly important as Switch 2’s biggest releases continue to grow in size.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade alone takes up close to 100GB, Split Fiction requires around 70GB, Cyberpunk 2077 weighs in at roughly 60GB, while Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment needs around 44GB. Install just a handful of those, and the console’s internal storage starts looking pretty cramped.
Unlike the original Switch, you also can’t use any old memory card. Nintendo’s new console only supports microSD Express cards for expanded storage, thanks to the much faster read and write speeds required to run Switch 2 games. If you’re still using a standard microSD card from your original Switch, it can store screenshots and videos, but it won’t play Switch 2 software.
At $98, this SanDisk card feels like one of those purchases you’ll appreciate every time you download a new game without having to clear space first. It’s not as eye-catching as buying another controller or a carrying case, but for anyone planning to build a sizeable digital library, it’s arguably one of the most practical Switch 2 accessories you can buy.

If you’ve somehow made it this far without picking up a Nintendo Switch 2, there’s another deal worth knowing about. Nintendo has already confirmed the console’s price will increase in September, meaning the next few weeks are likely your last chance to buy at today’s pricing.

Woot is owned by Amazon, making it a far less risky option than buying from an unknown marketplace seller. Every refurbished console also includes a 90-day limited warranty, giving you some extra peace of mind if anything isn’t working as expected.
According to Woot, its Grade A refurbishment means each console has been fully tested, restored to like-new working condition, had any previous owner’s data removed, and should only show minimal cosmetic wear. The only real compromise is the packaging, as it ships in a plain replacement box rather than Nintendo’s original retail packaging.
If you’re planning to buy a Switch 2 before prices go up, it’s difficult to imagine a better opportunity to save money.
Nintendo’s latest financial results also serve as a reminder that demand for the Switch 2 remains strong, even if the launch frenzy has naturally cooled.
The company sold 3.82 million Switch 2 consoles during the three months ending June 30, down from the 5.82 million units sold during the system’s launch quarter a year earlier.
That decline isn’t especially surprising. Console launches almost always represent the highest point of demand, particularly for a successor that fans had waited years to get their hands on.
What’s more noteworthy is that Nintendo says the Switch 2 continues to outperform the original Switch at the same stage in its lifecycle, making it the fastest-selling console in the company’s history.
