Everything is more expensive nowadays, including Macs. The higher prices have an effect on our shopping habits, so you might be more inclined to take advantage of a sale price as soon as you see one, instead of waiting for a better deal. After all, there’s a good chance prices will go up again, since the supply shortage isn’t going to ease up anytime soon.
Today is the last day of Amazon’s fall sales event, and that includes Macs. We weren’t expecting much, but you can save a good chunk of change on many Mac models during the event, and there are a few Macs that are actually really good deals. Here are the Amazon Mac deals you should pick up before time runs out.
And if Macs aren’t your thing, be sure to check out all the Best Prime Day Apple deals.
M6 Mac mini
Simon Jary / Foundry
When Apple released the M6 Mac mini, it raised prices on top of the June hikes, bringing the entry-level model to a depressing $899. But today, Amazon is selling the base M6 Mac mini for $780, a savings of $119 (13 percent) off Apple’s price. It only has 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, which probably isn’t enough for AI development, but you can also save up to $150 on models with more storage and memory, so go check it out.
MacBook Air
Eugen Wegmann
Amazon is offering $200 off the M5 MacBook Air, an excellent deal that brings the price back to what Apple originally charged. We’re expecting an upgrade to the M6 within the next six months, but even if the price stays the same, you’re going to pay regular price for that laptop at least until Amazon’s July Prime Day event. Also, the 20 percent performance boost of M6 over the M5 doesn’t have the same value as it used to, so you’re safe grabbing this Amazon deal before time runs out.
The $200 price cut doesn’t just apply to the base 16GB/512GB SSD model. You can save $200 on the models with 24GB of RAM or a 1TB SSD, too, in any of the Air colors. Nice!
MacBook Pro
Foundry
We don’t really recommend the M5 MacBook Pro even on sale, but the higher-end MacBook Pro models on Amazon offer bigger savings. For example, the 14-inch M5 Pro MacBook Pro with 24GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD is $2,699, a $300 savings. Another example: the 16-inch M5 Max MacBook Pro with 36GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD is $3,899, which is $500 less than the regular price.
Now, perhaps you’re waiting for the imminent OLED MacBook Pro upgrade, which could happen soon. Even though rumors say it will be lighter and feature Apple’s first touchscreen on a Mac, be prepared to pay a lot for it–it’s going to be pricey. Since it’s an entirely new laptop, we don’t expect it to go on sale for a long while, and in the meantime, you can have a speedy new MacBook Pro and save yourself a lot of time.
Black Magic Mouse
Apple
I’m not the biggest fan of the low profile feel of Apple’s Magic Mouse, but I’ll admit, the black Magic Mouse is striking. It’s on sale now for $79 on Amazon, which is $20 off, along with the black Magic Trackpad for $130 (MSRP $149). Unfortunately, the black Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad doesn’t get the same sale treatment if you’re looking to complete the set.
