Rosario Dawson confirmed she filmed a scene as her Daredevil character Claire Temple for Spider-Man: Brand New Day—but it didn’t make the final cut. During an appearance at GalaxyCon in Raleigh, North Carolina, the actress said she was “a reject of Spider-Man.”

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Dawson’s character is a nurse who treats injured superheroes. She first appeared in the debut season of Daredevil in 2015, and reprised the role in several subsequent MCU series, including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders.

“I even shot a scene in the new Spider-Man movie, but I got cut out,” she told fans during the event. “I told my mom, and she was like, ‘That sucks. Now I can’t post the pictures.’ And I was like, ‘Right mom, me being cut out of the movie that has the largest viewership of a trailer ever, the issue is you can’t post the BTS photos.’”

Dawson explained that Spider-Man means a lot to her because her uncle is a comic book artist and that was the first character he learned how to draw. “There’s a frame in one of the new comics that has a young Spider-Man talking to Daredevil, and they made it so that the young Spider-Man goes to PS19 in the Lower East Side, which is where I went to elementary school,” Dawson said. “So when I tell you my post was already ready with my BTS, with my grandson wearing all his Spider-Man stuff … Then I got the email that was like, ‘Yeah, nah.’”

Dawson described herself as “a reject of Spider-Man,” but said she hopes that one day she might get the chance to be in another film.

“Because everybody’s in it, it still means that my character is somewhere in that same universe, and I really love that,” she said. “So, I hope I get to be Claire again.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, brings back Tom Holland as the titular superhero. It also stars Sadie Sink, Zendaya, and Jon Bernthal. Today the film will hit a milestone by becoming one of the only movies to reach the $700 million mark at the domestic box office. According to Deadline, Brand New Day will become the fourth MCU flick to cross $700M in the U.S. after Avengers: Endgame ($858.3M), Spider-Man: No Way Home ($814.8M), and Black Panther ($700.4M).
