Rod Stewart Cancels Farewell Tour Dates After Coronary Stent Procedure

Rod Stewart is canceling the remaining month of his farewell tour dates, which includes his upcoming Las Vegas residency, after the rock star underwent a coronary stent procedure, his representatives confirmed on Tuesday.

“Following further medical evaluation, Sir Rod Stewart has successfully undergone a routine coronary stent procedure,” Stewart said in a post shared on Instagram on Tuesday. “Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities. On the advice of his doctors, he will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage. Unfortunately, this means he will be unable to continue his current tour dates.”

In his own statement, Stewart said that “I’m already feeling better and very much on the mend.”

“I want to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me,” Stewart said. “I’m deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon.”

Stewart’s announcement comes after the singer had to cancel shows in Cincinnati and Cleveland this week. He’d garnered headlines earlier this summer after he nearly fainted on stage during a concert in Utah, having to pause the show and go back stage to get oxygen.

Stewart first embarked on his farewell tour in 2024, and along with his Las Vegas shows, the cancellation impacts scheduled dates in Iowa, Kansas City, Minnesota, Mexico and Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater.

Stewart’s reps said, “Information regarding affected performances will be communicated by the respective promoters and venues.”
