Susanne Sundfør has announced her new album ‘Revelations Of Divine Love’ with the ethereal single ‘I It Am’.

The Norwegian singer-songwriter will return with her seventh studio album, which will land on October 2 via Bella Union (pre-order/pre-save here).

Sundfør’s new album will focus on “her renewed understanding of love, inspired by becoming a mother of two and moving to the countryside in the time since her 2023 album ‘blómi,’” according to a press release.

“We live in a world of horror, full of unhappy, unsatisfied people doing terrible things to each other,” she said of the album. “You don’t have to be religious to believe that love is the answer. Swap the word God for love and you have a higher power that is universal.”

Recorded with only a pipe organ and a voice live in a Norwegian church, Sundfør’s lyrics will be based on Grace Warrack’s 1901 translation of ‘Revelations of Divine Love’. Written by 14th century mystic Julian of Norwich, it is the first known book written in English by a woman. The album was recorded BBC Jazz Award-winner Kit Downes.

Today (August 7), Sundfør has shared the ethereal track ‘I It Am’ ahead of the album – take a listen and see the full tracklisting below:

Susanne Sundfør’s ‘Revelations Of Divine Love’ tracklisting is:

    ‘A Revelation of Love’
    ‘I It Am’
    ‘For He Standeth All Alone’
    ‘Hazelnut’
    ‘What Are We’
    ‘One High Love’
    ‘Vision’
    ‘Overcome’
    ‘The Blessed Wounds’
    ‘Seven Nights Dead’
    ‘Charity’
    ‘All Shall Be Well’
    ‘Love Was Our Lord’s Meaning’

In 2023, we spoke to Sundfør about her album ‘blómi’. The Röyksopp collaborator spoke to us about how the record was inspired by looking for hope amidst an increasingly divided society.

“The biggest danger is ourselves and our ability to have civilised conversations and keep trying to communicate across political realms,” she told NME. “Personally, I’ve fallen out with people because we’ve had different opinions on political matters and I find that really sad. On that point, we’re in a worse state than when ‘Music For People In Trouble’ came out.”
