Green Day‘s coming-of-age comedy Nimrods is coming to cinemas, but what songs appear in the film? Find out below.
Written and directed by Lee Kirk, the film stars Mason Thomas, Kylr Coffman and Ryan Foust as the members of the fictional Kansas City punk trio Analog Dogs.
After Tommy (Thames) is duped by his older brother into believing that they have been invited to open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve, the friends race to Los Angeles to make the show, with the events drawing from Green Day’s real-life experiences of touring in a van before their mainstream breakthrough.
The cast also includes Mckenna Grace, Jenna Fischer, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee and Sean Gunn, while Green Day appear as themselves and also serve as producers.
Nimrods arrives in UK cinemas on August 11, while it opens in the US on August 14. Check out the trailer here:
The film has been in the works since early last year, originally operating under the title New Years Rev. In April, it was confirmed that it had been renamed Nimrods, in reference to Green Day’s 1997 album ‘Nimrod’.
The band also promoted the film by surprising fans at San Diego Comic-Con and playing ‘Basket Case’ on top of an ice cream van.

The film’s original score has been composed by Alec Puro, while the soundtrack is dominated by songs from Green Day’s back catalogue. It also features songs performed by Analog Dogs, while Ramones, Mckenna Grace, The Paradox and Ultra Q also make appearances.
The official soundtrack album was released on July 31, and it included the new Green Day song ‘I’m Never Gonna R.I.P.’, as well as previously unreleased live tracks from the Palladium in Los Angeles.
