Bob Weis has a new home.
The former Walt Disney Imagineering president, who announced his retirement in late 2022 after a 42-year run with the studio, has confirmed that he’s signed with WME for representation. At the agency, he’s being repped by Howard Yoon and Morgan Montgomery.
Said Montgomery: “Howard and I are thrilled to be working with Bob, whose reputation as a business leader, creative thinker and engaging speaker precedes him. The scope of potential projects is as boundless as his vast imagination. We are excited to hit the ground running to make some magic in the book business and beyond.”
The news comes as Weis is juggling multiple projects. On his slate are two Disney Editions/Random House Worlds titles, with the tome Marty Sklar: Time Capsules of Walt Disney Imagineering set for release on April 13, 2027. Weis is also scheduled to make appearances (including book signings) at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, which will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center and the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., from Aug. 14-16.
In a farewell interview with Disney’s official fan club to announce his retirement, Weis looked back on his long career with the studio and his long history with the brand. He actually started with a gig at Disneyland selling popcorn and ice cream while still in college at California Polytechnic University. Not long after graduating, he got a job with Walt Disney Imagineering — then known as WED Enterprises — in 1980. One of his first tasks was being on the team that helped create Tokyo Disneyland.
His Disney résumé also included work on Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Tokyo DisneySea and Shanghai Disneyland, among other huge projects. He was appointed Imagineering president in 2016, and he went on to hold the post for six years through 2022, at which time he became a global Imagineering ambassador.
In September 2024, Weis published his memoir, Dream Chasing: My Four Decades of Success and Failure with Walt Disney Imagineering (Disney Editions distributed by Penguin Random House). His former boss, Bob Iger, penned the book’s foreword. His other writing credits include the novel Ghost Dog, which was published the same year as his memoir.
