Woot is owned and operated by Amazon, so you don’t have to worry about any funny business in dealing with an unknown retailer. It also comes with a 90-day limited warranty that lets you send it back for a full refund if something’s wrong with it.
The “Grade A” refurbishment means, according to Woot, that it has been “inspected and guaranteed to have minimal cosmetic damage & has successfully passed a full diagnostic test which ensures like-new functionality & removal of any prior-user’s personal information.”
It’s worth noting that you don’t get the original Switch 2 box when you buy this item. It comes with the console and all the standard accessories, but is packaged in a “generic white or brown box.” If you’re cool with those caveats, this might be the lowest price you’ll find for a Switch 2 in the foreseeable future.
Lately it seems as if Nintendo is the only console maker doing the right things. Sony’s first-party output has been sluggish this generation, and now it’s taking heat for its plan to ditch discs. Microsoft, after falling far behind the past two console generations thanks in part to its failed bet on Game Pass, had a regime change this year, with the new manager trying to put out fires left and right (as well as firing a ton of workers).
Meanwhile, the AAA game market is shrinking because people just want to play the same handful of games 24/7 (Fortnite, Roblox, Call of Duty, GTA, and Minecraft, specifically).
As usual, Nintendo is marching to the beat of its own bongos. The Switch 2 has been a success, and Nintendo’s steady first-party support has kept the platform in the conversation since it launched last year. Games like Splatoon Raiders, Star Fox, and Pokémon Pokopia have gotten killer review scores across the board.
But even Nintendo can’t keep its prices down during the AI-induced RAM crisis. That’s why Nintendo, along with Sony and Microsoft, is raising prices on its consoles. So if you want to get a Switch 2 and you don’t want to pay a ton, picking up a refurb unit now is probably your best bet.
