Every Game Coming Out This Week: Marvel Tokon And More

August is here and the dog days of summer are officially upon us, though things are kicking off with some surprisingly big releases. I’m not going to talk about Game Freak’s fantasy action-adventure Beast of Reincarnation or Arc Systems’ new tag-team fighting game Marvel Tokon. You’ve been hearing about them for months, and their launches will not be quiet.

But one game coming out this week that might have gone under your radar is the alternate-history military sim Iron Nest. We covered its Steam demo back in June, a surprising bright spot amid an otherwise underwhelming Next Fest, and the pitch is very neat. You’re a heavy artillery operator inside a dieselpunk spider-tank that assists comrades by bombarding positions on the front lines. You interpret messages from high command and soldiers in the trenches to plan your actions, then play around with intricate analog controls to calibrate accordingly.

“Every operation in Iron Nest feels tactile and absurdly meticulous, but god does it feel satisfying,” we wrote a couple of months back. Hopefully, the full game delivers.
