Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza has been in the drivers’ seat for a minute now.

Mendoza’s Hoosiers are 7-0, and he has 21 touchdowns to two interceptions. On the road against Oregon in Week 7, he threw for 215 yards, a TD and a pick in Indiana’s biggest win of the season, a 30-20 victory over the then-No. 3 Ducks.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound junior has 1,755 passing yards on the season and is completing 73.5% of his passes.

Second on the board is South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers, whose Gamecocks have struggled all season.

Sellers, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound sophomore, has battled injuries this year, and has 1,134 passing yards, five TDs and two interceptions. South Carolina is 3-4 overall.

Making significant leaps up the board are Alabama QB Ty Simpson, Miami DE Rueben Bain Jr. and Oregon QB Dante Moore. Back on Sept. 28, both Simpson and Moore were at +2500 to go No. 1 in the next NFL Draft, and Bain was at +1500.

One quarterback who was projected to be the first pick in next year’s draft at the beginning of the season has tumbled down the list, and that’s Arch Manning.

The Longhorns are 5-2 on the season, and Manning’s play has been uneven to say the least. He has thrown for 1,449 yards, 12 TDs and five picks, and is completing just 60.3% of his passes. He has also been sacked 13 times, an average of nearly twice a game.

Manning quarterbacks have a history of being selected at or near the top of the draft, and that still could end up being the case.

Arch’s grandfather Archie was the second pick in the 1971 NFL Draft, landing in New Orleans.

Nearly three decades later, in 1998, his uncle Peyton was picked first by the Indianapolis Colts. Then, just six years after that, in 2004, his other uncle Eli went No. 1 to the New York Giants.
