Intel apparently is not enough for Nvidia’s billion dollar investment and you are looking for other financially strong partners. Despite the years ago, Apple could soon get into the chip manufacturer.

    Talk about conversations

Like the news agency Bloomberg reported, the negotiations of Intel were initiated after Apple had proposed a possible investment. The talks are still in an early stage, so a concrete agreement is by no means certain. Intel has been struggling with growing pressure from competing companies for years. It was only at the beginning of the year that the US group announced that it would relieve around 15 percent of its workforce and to delete planned factory projects in Europe.

At the same time, the US government secured almost ten percent of the Intel shares in August to accelerate the establishment of new production facilities in the state of Ohio.

In the past few months, however, Intel has also won private investors: Nvidia $ five billion flow into the company, two billion came from the Japanese technology group Softbank. In addition, Intel is currently supposed to address other possible partners and investors – so Apple is only a particularly prominent interlocutor. The relationship between the two corporations is changeable.

By 2020, Apple used processors from Intel in its MAC computers before switching to self-developed chips that are now made exclusively by the Taiwanese TSMC. A return to Intel chips for iPhones, iPads or Macs is considered excluded.

    Details still unclear

Apple and Intel also worked together in the area of 5G modem chips. But Intel did not succeed in delivering products that were enough for Apple’s quality requirements. As a result, Intel got out of the fashion store and sold this division to Apple. It remains unclear what future cooperation could look like. Industry experts, however, consider it possible that Intel could produce certain components on behalf of Apple in the future – for example to reduce the dependency on TSMC. In view of the geopolitical risks around Taiwan, Apple could see a strategic advantage in a broader delivery base.
