Hands-on review: JBL Sense Lite Headphones

I have said before in previous reviews that I am a fan of headphones over earbuds because I always fear that earbuds will fall out off my ears when I am using them. Well, it looks like JBL has found a solution to this problem for its new Sense Lite headphones.

The coolest thing about the JBL Sense Lite headphones is that each earbud comes with a small hook that wraps perfectly around your ear. I put them on my ears for the first time, and then I shook my head to see if they would fall off. Thankfully, the earbud-style headphone design did not fall off as I feared.

The earbud headphones are also really lightweight, so they’re good to use if you travel a lot. I remember wearing traditional headphones, and they can be quite heavy whenever I put them in my bag.

Another huge advantage of these headphones is their affordability. The previous JBL product I reviewed cost over $500 NZD, which is too expensive for most people. The JBL Sense Lite headphones on the other hand, cost a more reasonable $149.99 to $159.99 depending on where you get them.

As for the sound quality, the JBL Sense Lite headphones have crystal-clear audio that can output both music and movie sounds perfectly. I used the YouTube music app to play a playlist of ’80s music, and I was able to hear everything with beaming quality. I also believe these headphones have better quality than the Suunto Race 2 headphones I reviewed earlier, which are double the price.

The headphones are also able to block out most outside noise, so you can use them if you’re in the gym or walking to work. Like I said before, the hook design also means they won’t fall off even if you’re running or doing an intense workout.

In terms of battery life, the earbuds themselves are able to hold eight hours of charge. The carrying case charger has a battery life of 24 hours. In total, you should be good to have around 32 hours of battery life if both units are fully charged.

The speed of charging the devices is also pretty fast. If you are in a hurry, a swift 10 minute charge of the earbuds can get you around three hour’s worth of battery life. This should be enough for your commute to work or a gym workout.

All in all, the JBL Sense Lite headphones is a great product because they’re not hard to lose, they have great sound quality, and most importantly of all, they’re really affordable. I recommend you try these out if you want something good that isn’t too expensive.
